Verizon’s mobile 5G network is becoming commercially available in NYC this month. Verizon recently made the announcement and similar to rollouts in other cities, it will only be available in certain parts of town to begin with.
New York City is the 11th city to get 5G coverage from Verizon in 2019. The plan is to have 5G up and running in 30 cities by the end of the year, with many other cities announced earlier in the summer. This also includes 13 NFL stadiums. The service will be largely restricted to certain areas of Manhattan at first, though select areas of Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx will get service too. Other carriers providing 5G coverage in NYC are known to be Manhattan-centric, making the expanded coverage detail an important one.
Though it may take a while before everyone can take advantage of the 5G coverage, it is exciting to look forward to. To learn more about the announcement and future plans, visit here.
