The Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification, commonly referred to as CMMC or the CMMC model, is a set of mandatory cybersecurity requirements that contractors must implement and have that implementation validated.
The theft of intellectual property and sensitive information continues to threaten economic and national security. The Department of Defense has created the CMMC protocol as a way for companies to prove their compliance. By doing so, this means they are practicing and maintaining cybersecurity best practices in order to reduce ransomware and protect against cyber threats.
The model consists of 5 maturity levels, ranging from “Basic Cybersecurity Hygiene” to “Advanced/Progressive”, with 171 cybersecurity practices mapped across the levels. The structure is meant to ensure cybersecurity activities are consistent, repeatable, and of high quality. To learn more about the process and how to prepare, visit here.
