Altice Mobile
Through the end of June, Altice Mobile is offering a limited time offer for unlimited data, talk & text for only $20 per month per line. The ‘Unlimited Everything’ price plan is available for for Optimum and Suddenlink customers, while it normally starts at $30 per month per line.
With 99% nationwide coverage, no commitments & the ability to cancel at any time, zero down & zero financing, plus international perks, this affordable option might be worth switching to, especially during pandemic times. Though you may have to investigate whether your current phone is locked or unlocked, and potentially unlock it, you should be able to keep your current phone and phone number if you choose. This will stay active as you follow the steps to transfer, and once the Altice service is activated, your existing (old) service should automatically cancel. If you would rather purchase a new phone versus bringing your own, there are multiple options available with monthly payment plans.
Altice is working to streamline technology and keep you easily connected while also providing an affordable option and various ongoing deals. To learn more about your options, visit here.
Signal App
The number of Americans downloading Signal, an encrypted messaging app, has skyrocketed over the past several weeks. Many have been using the app to organize and participate in protests against police brutality.
Towards the end of May, the week before George Floyd died, 51,000 first-time users downloaded the app; the following week as protests continued to grow nationwide, there were 78,000 new downloads. By the first week of June, there were 183,000. Organizers have relied on Signal for years to devise action plans and develop strategies for handling possible arrests. Now, protest attendees are also using the app to communicate with friends while out on the streets. The app uses end-to-end encryption, scrambling the message so only the sender and the intended recipient can decipher it. Developed by a nonprofit, the app not only provides privacy to users, but also peace of mind that the app isn’t dependent on use for profit. Some features include the option to set messages to delete after a certain amount of time, and a “blur” tool for photographs.

Captio for iOS
The Captio app for iOS is a simple one tap way to send yourself a quick note. In the open app, you type yourself a note, hit send, and the note is immediately delivered to your email inbox. The app is optimized for speed and allows you to capture text, web pages, and pictures from any app by tapping to use their share extension feature. You can also tap to take photos and attach them to a note if you don’t actually need to type anything out. If an internet connection is unavailable, you can use offline storage – notes will be stored on the device and immediately sent to your inbox once you’re back online. Captio will also easily integrate with other task management systems you might already be using. To learn more about the app, visit here.
