Based on statistics of people searching for terms like LinkedIn hack, there appears to be a concerted effort to overtake LinkedIn accounts, especially those of C level executives.
The goal is to subvert the account from the real owner and then attempt to use the account for further malicious intent. Users with strong passwords and/or two factor authentication may only be impacted with a temporary account lock. But, if a user has an account that is poorly protected, cybercriminals may be able to swap your listed email so you can no longer have access. If you have a LinkedIn account and you do not have a strong password and are not using LinkedIn multi-factor authentication, you should update your password as soon as possible and implement MFA. This is a reminder to perform these actions on any and all social media and regular sites requiring a login in order to protect yourself against hackers and cybercriminals like these ones.
