Journey to Passwordless
Last summer, LastPass announced passwordless login to the LastPass vault through the Authenticator, followed by passwordless login on mobile using biometrics. This summer, the journey to passwordless continues with FIDO2 compatible authenticators as additional options for passwordless login on desktop.
The LastPass Authenticator was the first passwordless login option; the LastPass Authenticator is paired to a user’s LastPass vault enabling access to a one-tap and password-free login. This means users no longer have to type out their master password to access their desktop vault. Now, users can choose from an array of FIDO2 compatible authenticators, aside from the LastPass Authenticator, while removing the master password from the typical login process. Passwordless login to vault on desktop devices can be accessed through any FIDO2 compatible biometrics, like a face or fingerprint ID, or through any FIDO2 hardware key, like Yubi-Key or Feitian Keys.
Reducing the frequency of password use will provide greater protection from hackers, while maintaining security for login. Lower use of passwords also means less time spent on being locked out and resetting passwords. Visit here to learn more about LastPass and how to start or continue your own passwordless journey.

LinkedIn Hacking on the Rise
Based on statistics of people searching for terms like LinkedIn hack, there appears to be a concerted effort to overtake LinkedIn accounts, especially those of C level executives.
The goal is to subvert the account from the real owner and then attempt to use the account for further malicious intent. Users with strong passwords and/or two factor authentication may only be impacted with a temporary account lock. But, if a user has an account that is poorly protected, cybercriminals may be able to swap your listed email so you can no longer have access. If you have a LinkedIn account and you do not have a strong password and are not using LinkedIn multi-factor authentication, you should update your password as soon as possible and implement MFA. This is a reminder to perform these actions on any and all social media and regular sites requiring a login in order to protect yourself against hackers and cybercriminals like these ones.
