Next month, on September 10, 2021, OneDrive sync client will no longer update or be supported on macOS Sierra 10.12 and macOS High Sierra 10.13.
The OneDrive team is committed to bringing the best and most secure experience possible to your devices. Both macOS Sierra 10.12 and macOS High Sierra 10.13 have been out of Apple’s mainline support since September 2019 and November 2020, respectively, and the time has come to end updates and support for the OneDrive Desktop application (sync client). The team will focus their resources on new technologies and supported operating systems. Plus, moving forward, only the three most recent versions of macOS will be supported. This means if a new major version of macOS is released, the new version and the previous two versions will be supported.
Existing OneDrive sync client installations on unsupported operating systems will continue to run but they will stop updating, functionality will no longer be tested, and any issues or bugs found will not be investigated or fixed. It is recommended for a smooth transition to upgrade machines to macOS Mojave 10.14 or above, or for the best user experience and longest support lifestyle, upgrade to macOS Big Sur 11.0 or above.

New Outlook App
Microsoft’s Outlook email app has been in many forms since it was originally bought in 1997 for an estimated $400 million. Dubbed ‘Project Monarch’, the new Outlook app is seen as a reboot of what came before, and how users will manage their email across both Windows 10 and Windows 11.
Microsoft has often released more than one app that achieves the same function, like the Snipping Tool and Snip and Sketch. Mail is another example; you can use the Windows Mail app, log into your Microsoft 365 account to access your mail through Outlook, or you can download an Outlook application. Now, as part of the ‘One Outlook’ Project, Microsoft is working to consolidate the Mail apps into one unified application that can manage mail across Windows 10 and Windows 11. Having the same design on both operating systems may also entice users to upgrade to Windows 11, knowing they will not need to learn a new Mail app in the process.
The app is not available yet, but most likely will be as we approach the Windows 11 release, rumored to be in October 2021. To learn more, visit here.
