Tech Together
Foursquare and LinkNYC are coming together with one goal in mind: helping people in the time of COVID-19.
The campaign between the pair is taking “data-driven marketing” to a whole new level. LinkNYC is using Foursquare’s location information to help New Yorkers avoid each other through digital out of home displays (DOOH). LinkNYC is the company behind the digital kiosks scattered on NYC sidewalks; now, they’re using Foursquare’s data to display the average hourly traffic levels for nearby grocery stores and drugstores. The partnership reflects a shift in thinking about how products can be produced to help people meet new and possibly unexpected pandemic-related challenges.

The Bird Guide App
The recently redesigned and free Audubon Bird Guide app remains one of the best, most trusted field guides for North American birds.
As many of us have spent more time safely outdoors throughout the pandemic, there’s likely been a time or few where you’ve seen a bird and wondered about what species it might be or other details. The Aubudon Bird Guide app is a complete field guide to over 800 species of North American birds built for all experience levels. It aims to help you identify the birds around you, keep track of different birds you’ve seen, and continue getting outside to discover new birds near you. There have been several upgrades made to the app this spring, including an easier-to-use home screen, an improved Explore section, and an overall update to the look and feel. With Bird ID, you can enter all information you were able to observe in order to narrow down a list of possible matches for your location and date in real time. The guide also features photos, audio clips, maps, and in-depth text if you are feeling curious from the comfort of your own home. If you venture outside, you can keep track of the birds you see using the Sightings feature, and can share your photos with the Photo Feed.
We’ve decided to download the app and give it a try. Let us know if you would find this interesting too! To learn more about the app features, and how you could get even more involved with Aubudon, visit here.
Email Training In Pandemic Times
2020 has had no shortage of curveballs thrown our way, despite very little actual curveballs. Though sports may be making their comeback, cyberattacks don’t need one, seeing as they seemingly never left. Even during a pandemic, or perhaps especially now, training employees how to recognize and defend against cyberattacks is of the utmost importance. Humans tend to be the weak link in the cyber defense chain, highlighting the need to build a security-aware culture. These can be continually achieved through more employee security awareness training and phishing simulation programs. To learn more, visit here.
