Apple’s surprise October “Scary Fast” event included some exciting product announcements, and nothing too spooky.
The “scary fast” part of the event are the new M3 chips. The M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max were announced, all of which will be included in the new 24-inch iMac and MacBook Pros. The new chips are benchmarked against their M1 predecessor, with claims the M3 renders at 2.5x the speed and with a CPU 30% faster than the M1. The new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros come with the new line of M3 chips, in addition to upgraded internals and a long lasting battery up to 22 hours. The options range in price, plus there is a new color available – Space Black. The 24-inch iMac comes in several color options, with the M3 chip, as well as an upgraded screen, camera, and six-speaker system. The new line of MacBook Pros does however mark the end of the Touch Bar.
The showcase event was shot entirely on an iPhone, which was sneakily mentioned at the very end of the event. To learn more about the event, or to watch the stream, visit here.
