Villanova University U-Vault Roll Out
U-Vault, powered by redBoomerang is now available to select required laptop students at Villanova University for downloading and use during the entire 2005-2006 school year. Villanova is undertaking this pilot to evaluate the benefit of providing off site backup using U-Vault to all students in the required laptop program beginning in the Fall of 2006.
Students have been selected to participate based on their major program of study. As distribution increases in October, other programs may be considered for the pilot. The goal is to have at least 1000 students using the software during the year.
Surveys conducted on campus place data protection amongst the most important items for students. The same surveys suggest the university has some obligation to assist with this protection. With U-Vault, powered by redBoomerang, students are assured of a secure, automatic method for insuring their valuable information is saved off campus in a controlled enviroment. This way, if a virus, disk crash, or theft occurs, the student is guaranteed to be able to retrieve their data.
