Google recently announced a company reorganization under the new name Alphabet. Alphabet will serve as a parent entity, housing several companies, including Google, under it. The change comes as an effort to keep Google innovative by keeping businesses nimble and allowing divisions to make their own decisions. The structure of a holding-company should also be providing more financial transparency, in order to understand how much money is being wasted or invested outside of the core web search business.
